Carlo barbon
books/catalogs, photography
Federico Barbon
What do Carlo’s photographs say in this limited selection edited by his son Federico, who decided to celebrate his father with the elegant booklet you are holding in your hands?
The title itself – Trees – already hints the love and attention that Carlo gives to the natural environment through his use of the camera. But behind his observation, with an approach typical of those who know how to see, there lies the work of almost a lifetime.
Carlo became familiar with the camera a long time ago, and continues to use it as a means of expression, communicating the feelings that draw him in every time. His photographs are never banal or obvious, but the result of a highly complex analytical process. Always alone with his camera, intent on investigating, observing and relating light and shade to the reality that lies before him. It might take place in the middle of a wood, among rocky mountains, along the traces of a path or on the side of a road. With his free and evocative gaze, he ‘enters’ that portion of the territory that leads him to perceive something unique, proposing it to us through his photographs with poetry and a refined aesthetic sense. At least, this is what Carlo’s photographs say to me.
