The second Issue of THIS IS BADLAND serves up a series of feasts, kicking off on the Balkans’ ritual of consuming food and drinks in copious amounts. We begin to liberate collective ways of eating the world before it eats us through a series of unrestrained editorials, essays, and interviews: In the first stop of our 'Decor Balkan Tour' we travel to Macedonia with Ksenia Shestakovskaia, the all-seeing eye behind your favourite (or most despised) decor Instagram account @DECORHARDCORE. Pornstar, actress and activist STOYA talks to us about archetypes of the erotic body and her debut role in 'Ederlezi Rising‘.
'Why do I dance?'? We speak with artist and curator BOGOMIR DORINGER about bodies, crowds and dancing with an urgency. Asking ourselves if the social and political changes can be manifested and filtered through dance floors. In 'Devil’s Sunbed' artist RITA LINO becomes one with the island of Milos in Greece blurring the line between garment, body, and earth. Uncover the world of lush contradictions with the spring/summer collection of CHOPOVA LOWENA in which Eastern-European folklore coexists with 80s sportswear elements shot by photographer PRISCILLIA SAADA and many more contributions from and beyond the Balkans.
