Der Katalog zur Retrospektive des Berliner Photographen Michael Schmidt (1945-2014) stellt in chronologischer Abfolge die künstlerische Entwicklung des Werks vor. Die Werkgruppen werden anhand einer Auswahl repräsentativer Arbeiten gezeigt. Zahlreiche Abbildungen von Arbeitsmaterial wie Probeabzüge und Buchentwürfe sowie Archivalien wie Einladungskarten, Plakate und Ausstellungsansichten geben Informationen über die Arbeitsweise von Michael Schmidt bei der Realisierung seiner Buch- und Ausstellungsprojekte. Bei den Katalogessays von Ute Eskildsen, Janos Frecot, Peter Galassi, Heinz Liesbrock und Thomas Weski handelt es sich um Texte von Kuratoren, die zu Lebzeiten des Künstlers eng mit ihm bei verschiedenen Projekten zusammengearbeitet haben. The groups of works are represented by a selection of works. Numerous images of working material as work prints or book dummies as well as archival material as invitation cards, posters and exhibition views give further information about the work of Michael Schmidt on his book- and exhibition projects. The essays of Ute Eskildsen, Janos Frecot, Peter Galassi, Heinz Liesbrock and Thomas Weski are texts of curators, who worked closely with the artist on various projects during his lifetime. This book is the first survey publication which shows the complete work of Michael Schmidt.
