Der Halle-Prozess: Mitschriften
books/catalogs, theory
spector books
On 9 October 2019, during Yom Kippur, the most important holiday in the Jewish calendar, a right-wing extremist carried out a deadly attack on the synagogue in Halle. When he was unable to break into the synagogue, he attacked a kebab stand, murdering two people, Jana L. and Kevin S., and injuring several people as he fled. Involving over forty joint plaintiffs and more than eighty witnesses and experts, one of the biggest trials against a right-wing terrorist in Germany’s history was held in 2020. After twenty-six days, the trial ended with a life sentence being handed down to the perpetrator. The authors’ unique transcripts of the proceedings provide a detailed account of the entire trial and reveal how anti-Semitic, racist, and misogynist violence was heard in court.
Linus Pook makes videos and writes texts on anti-Semitism and the extreme right. Tuija Wigard is a political scientist with a focus on anti-Semitism and Islamism. Grischa Stanjek works as an educational consultant, programmer, and photographer. In late 2019, the editors founded democ. Zentrum Demokratischer Widerspruch e.V. and are now active members of the association’s board.
